The
boys from Vision Skin have been pumping out some pretty hot artwork from
their Strathpine studio lately. Owner Warren Rigby is pretty happy with
the way things are going at the moment, but says it was a totally different
story to when he first started out.

Warren
A
fitter and turner by trade, Warren also did landscaping for the Brisbane
City Council, was a machine serviceman and a printer, just to name a few
of the jobs he did before getting into tattooing. His first real introduction
into the industry was when he started to get a lot of work from Pete Davidson.
During these sessions he picked Petes brains, asked a lot of questions
and payed a lot of attention to what he was doing. But still, he had to
learn a lot of the hard yards by himself. When he did get his hands on
a machine, Pete Davidson and Neil Rindflesch really helped him along.
Then a couple of years later he opened his shop in 92. A lot more
information was gathered from a host of artists whom he met at tattoo
shows after joining the PTAA, of which he has held various positions such
as secretary, treasurer and state rep from 94-00. During this period
he also worked with the Health Department on the new regulations for the
industry

Clint
Anyone
who has been reading our mag would have seen a lot of Clints work
on these pages over the last couple of years. Before Clint got into tattooing
he was doing commercial art/screen printing for ads and signage etc. He
got his first tattoo when he was 17, but didnt really start getting
intoit until he was about 21. Now he has various pieces from artists such
as Warren, Link, Warren (Browns Plain), Tim Biedron (US), and Jon (US).

Russell
Russell,
the third crew member at the shop, also started his apprenticeship under
the watchful eye of Warren back in 99. Like Clint he was also
28 when he started tattooing. But like a lot of tattooists he worked
in a lot of different areas before he started at Vision Skin. Some of
which included 3 years working as an announcer for country radio, 5
years in the fuel industry and he also managed a sales team selling
cable TV around Brissy. He first meet Warren while out looking for his
wife's first tattoo. Their search for a shop they felt comfortable in
and where the tattooist gave them all the right answers to their questions
ended when they walked into Vision Skin. Russell soon started getting
work form Warren and as soon as they got to know each other better through
their passion for cars, Warren offered him a position.

If
you intend on getting some work from Warren, Russell or Clint, I would
suggest an appointment as they are heavily booked out nearly 2 weeks in
advance.
