?Originating from the small coastal town of Byron Bay, the band, citing influences such as Unearth, Bleeding Through, and Evergreen Terrace, have rapidly accumulated an enviably loyal fanbase Australia-wide and have been attributed as the main cause of the flourishing Byron Bay Hardcore scene.
Describe what sort of music you play: We play heavy hardcore/metal. It’s fast, full of breakdowns and has some melody thrown in. Influences come from early Australian hardcore bands, right through to modern metal and hardcore bands. We listen to a lot of shit and that comes out in our music.
What are Parkway Drive currently up to? At the moment we are enjoying a month off from touring. Just writing some new songs and getting ready to go out on our “All Ages Assault” tour. The tour starts early March and sees us playing around 28 shows all over the country, playing a lot of towns that don’t usually get to see hardcore bands. After that we are heading overseas to tour UK, Europe, USA and Japan to be home in November for more Australian tours. Since the CD ‘Killing With A Smile’ was released Sept ’05 we probably won’t have a new one out till 2007. We are re-releasing our first E.P ‘Don’t Close Your Eyes’ which will include our original recordings and hard to find tracks as a bonus. That should be out mid 2006.
