If you like your rock hard an’ fast, Mindsnare are the band for you. With 3 albums, an EP, several split albums and being featured on a heap of compilation albums, Mindsnare are an institution in Australian Hardcore. Guitarist Beltsy gives us a brief lesson in the history of Hardcore and tells us a bit about his tattoos along the way!!
First Tattoo? My first Tattoo was the dragon on my right shoulder.
When did you get it? I got it in about 1988 or 1989 when I was 16. It was done by Smeer who used to play in Depression, an old Melbourne punk/ hardcore band from the 80's.
Do you still like it? Yeah I still like the design. I think that Japanese style tattoo's never date and I am still getting that style of tattoo 14 years later.
What other tattoos do you have? I have a wizard on my arm which was done by Norm at Fairway tattoo's, then I got Jenny Roach to put in a castle and then Graham to do some freehand stuff like the stars and bolts and the dexon, that was around 1990. A couple of years later I got the fists at the bottom of my back at Body Language in Lilydale by Geoff Wilson, who also did the gas mask wearing guy and my sleeve of the battle scene. Then I got a Japanese character for strength inside my lip by Tim Dewelska, then the blue birds on my collar bones by Dean at Sacred Tattoo's in N.Z. Tim then did the Sacred Heart with the anchor on my leg. Then in a hotel room on tour our friend Simon Moody did the Mindsnare tattoo on my wrist. Then Tim started on my leg which is still in progress. Just a few months ago I got Tim to do the Dirty Deeds tattoo.
