AGAINST are a powerful Hardcore act from Brisbane, and are the instigators of the now thriving North Coast Hardcore scene. They are also lucky enough to be sponsored by All Star Tattoo, and have some great ink by the crew, as well as by Dan Smith, Pommie Paul, and Judd Ripley. So CHECK THEM OUT!
What sort of music do you play:
We're a hardcore band with a metal influence. Our musical influences are: DSM, The Promise, TERROR, Until The End, Wish For Wings, Day Of Contempt, Mourning Tide, Raised Fist and Trial
What is AGAINST up to at the moment:
We released our debut 8 track cd "MY HATE / MY CHOICE" on Common Bond Records in July 2003, our next recording is a split with Indecision Records STILL CROSSED (www.stillcrossed.com) from the United States in Mid 2004.
What are your plans for the future?
First and foremost a lot more touring, we want to get on the road a lot in 2004. As far as recording goes, apart from the upcoming split we're really hitting song writing hard at the moment, so l see a full length obtainable by the end of 2004.
Tell me about your band: AGAINST are a hardcore five piece from Brisbane, Queensland (North Coast Hardcore) Formed in late 2001, we played our debut show on the 26th of January 2002 and months later we recorded a six song demo "I Won't Be Your Fall" released in July 2002. The end of 2002 saw us share the stage with the likes of: Throwdown, Ensign and the Cro-Mags from the USA, Numb from Japan, and well known Australian bands such as Life Love Regret and Day of Contempt. Our huge live sound and energy earned us a spot on this years 'Hardcore 2003' lineup in Sydney where we were able to promote our debut CD "MY HATE/MY CHOICE". The first pressing of 500 sold out within 2 months and gigs from August onwards have included: AFI, BOYSETSFIRE, LIVID and TERROR. Our 2nd tour started with the QLD Bodyjar supports and then we hit the Australian East Coast. Our music is based around powerful guitar grooves combining the old school hardcore style with a metal edge. The high screaming vocals combined with the music make it intensely hard and fast with many comparisons being drawn to that of 'Until The End' crossed with 'Raised Fist'.
