Mick
Hayes is a name that you hear around all the time, and often pops up in
the results from tattoos shows. Having worked with such tattoo luminaries
as Trevor McStay in Australia and Paul Jeffries in Canada, Mick Hayes
is now running his own studio, Purple Haze Tattooz in Melbournes
outer eastern suburbs. He has just employed the talented Matt Chubb, and
together they are capable of outstanding portrait, fantasy and oriental
work.

What
sort of work is done at your studio?
We do flash designs, but we also do a lot of custom design work.
Describe what your studio looks like: Its a new age studio with complete separate modern rooms. How many staff do you have working with you? I have my partner Kathy doing piercing and Matt Chubb who tattoos. Adding his experience to the shop with his styles in portrait and fantasy art was a really positive move for Purple Haze. Why should someone get tattooed at your studio? We specialise in catering to the customers needs in design, presentation and hygiene. We have 30 years experience bet-ween us and we are honest if we cannot meet the specific design needs of the client. What sort of work do you mainly get asked for? A real variety of design; tribal, celtic, oriental and fantasy medieval. How did you become interested in tattooing? My dad had them and I was amazed how tattooing worked from a very young age. I definitely knew I would get them. How long have you been tattooing for? 20 years |
