FEATURED
ARTIST- BRAD GILES I attempted to interview the effervescent Brad Giles but he sort of interviewed himself. I couldn't get a word in edgeways, so I'll leave it to you Brad. I started tattooing almost 9 years ago, just playing around with some dodgy home made gear (eek... a scratcher I once was!) then after a lot of frustration, I bought some nice shiny equipment and opened a studio, then closed it not long after (like I was ready for that after 2 years of scratching?!). I sorta put tattooing on the backburner for awhile then got into it full time again around '95, and not long after won my first award, and then more ... in one year, six first place awards at national shows in New Zealand, and I was still working from home (an award winning backyarder?). Soon after I started working at Living Canvas Tattoo in Christchurch, N.Z. in early '97 then onto Australia for me!! |

| I started working at Wild at Heart in Brisbane mid '98, nice studio, great work, nicer boss but asshole staff (do I complain a lot?), left under a cloud in March '99...America looked like fun...L.A. here I come! Found work at Gil Montie's Tattoomania in Hollywood (weird?)...I spent a month there, had an amazing time, great boss (should hear his stories about all the celebs he knows!) and 2 great artists, Joe Schmoe (the worlds tallest and baldest midget) and Christian H. (air guitar?, no way...it's air drums,...on people!) had a blast, but all good things come to an end, and we all split, I got offered a guest spot at A.S.I. Tattoo in Salt Lake City, Utah (Mormon capital!). So I took it...and loved it, one of the nicest studios, and cities that I have worked in! Worked with an amazing bunch on artists, and had 2 great bosses (Don and Sharon Brouse) and made 2 great friends, Josh Petty and Brandon McKinney (aka Chunky & Munky)...and had some great times, great parties and great girls (oops!) Then I ended up in Miami, did a guest spot at Tattoos by Lou, owned by Ken Cameron, had a great time, hung with a now great friend, Dirk Dutch, a 6'10î ex skateboarder, self proclaimed King of White Trash! ...crazy guy! So after a 2 week vacation/party trip in London (woohoo!) I ended up back in Salt Lake City (I can't get enough of those S.L.C. girls...Yummy!) | ||
